Jungsik Lee 

Lives and works in Seoul, Korea

Jungsik Lee (b. 1987, Korea) is a Seoul-based visual artist and curator whose practice begins with writing and extends into various forms, including publishing, video, and installation. He is interested in how personal agency is articulated through the lives and voices of others, and develops artistic practices grounded in documentation and interpersonal relationships.

His essay collection If Looks Could Kill, written from his experience of living with HIV, records the lives of people living with HIV through first-person narratives. The book has been recognized for re-centering the stories of marginalized communities rather than reducing them to objects of conventional or sensationalized consumption.

In recent years, Lee has expanded his practice beyond his own experiences, engaging in ongoing projects that document the voices of others, including bereaved families of military accident victims and individuals living with schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder, and neurological disabilities. His work explores how the lives of marginalized people resist being fixed into singular images or narratives, instead unfolding through layered and evolving relationships. He also develops this approach through curatorial practice.
